Perennial Autumn/Winter 14_ Eddy & Valeâs debut collection tells the story of the designersâ working class grandfather charming his way into the Savoy Hotel London to take a bath. The concept explores the highly permeable class division seen within 1950âs England and todays deep denial of âclass consciousnessâ (Moore, 2013) âPerennial Autumn/Winter 14â strives to contend with the current refus(al) of verbal discourse on classâ through an exploration of upper and lower class stereotypes and ideals incorperating a sense of irony which can be argued to be a âdefault mode of contemporary culture todayâ (Moore, 2013) âPerennialâ embraces traditional eveningwear with a modern reinterpretation to create an Autumn/Winter 14 collection for the 50+ consumer - playing with classic silhouettes and a moody colour palette. Aided by academic text & documentaries the collection examines the tensions seen within the British Class System - specifically in the 1950âs and the current social mobility (or lack of) seen within society today.
