BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles
The aim of the work was to expand on the old associations with femininity and wealth without restraining womenâs emancipation. To fulfill the aim a comprehensive research on the luxury crafts, art and perceptions of sexuality was undertaken when visiting Victoria and Albert museum, researching literature and Internet about fine artists, fashion design icons. A lot of experimentation with textures and material was required as the work is largely based on the feeling of rich and vast (rich colour, patterns, shapes). The goal was to develop fresh and contemporary collection.In order to avoid unconscious copying and mimicking of the existing fashion designs, inspirations for the project where found in the rich craft and art history.
