LOOKBOOK: LOOK 4 SHEEPSKIN TOP

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

ELLY CHENG 2012. ellissellielly@gmail.com The collection influence by emotion memories from my childhood, it is about the moments of my mother and grandmother spending time with me and my brother, while my father is away for work. The inspiration is about aprons and floral dresses which they daily wear, and its more about layering aprons and fluffiness shaping, softness texture. I have been explored to create in different texture, hand dyed sheepskin to bring life into the collection from the brightness color, hand dyed wadding and layered it to create shades of color and digital print of the nature softness, also mixed with a translucent silicone rubber sheet to create a contrast texture. K, [HyungTae Kim] . "I don’t like the term “fashion”. I am not a fashion designer. I am a creator”. "A/W 2013 Generation." A/w 2013 "The idea of K A/w 13 collection is to explore the sensitive relationship between youth-cultures and parental culture." My concept is to look at the contrasts between the themes of 'Father/Tradition, Youth/rebellious and Uniform/War. What inspired me were the memory and feelings I had when I was an adolescent boy. The memory of trying my Father's clothes is unforgettable. What remains deep inside of me is the feeling of warmth and comfort. To more accurately describe, it was like wearing a very warm blanket in a very cold and lonely winter. This feelings got stronger when I was trying his military jacket. I wanted to deliver that feeling of warmness of oversized khaki fabrics whilst having the adolescent boy's rebelliousness attitude that I had as I grow up, as his jacket getting smaller. "Hyung tae Kim’s was also great – it was a very good season.” Backpacks featured strongly in a great deal of collections, particularly in Kim’s who presented low-slung oversized backpacks combined with large, long coats that looked reminiscent of ‘typical’ father’s clothing but with a younger fresher vibe" - Hilary Alexander Academic London College of Fashion 2009 -2012 BA(Hons) FDT Menswear FT Northumbria University 2006-2009 BA(Hons)FDT Fashion Design Foundation Degree Work Experience Reworked [london] 2009 - 2011 [VINTAGE, ARMY CLOTHE REWORKED SHOP] ASSIATANT Diorasa 2007-2008 [Tailor shop] TAILOR ASSISTANT Press: http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/fashion/catwalk/AW2012/ReadyToWear/london/london_college_of_fashion_-_ba/full-length-photos -http://www.gomoneyways.com/?p=65953 -http://jaci-mag.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/untitled-ss-2013-mens-collection-acne.html -http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/2012/live/ -http://disordermagazine.com/lcfs-upcoming-talent/style/ -http://www.flickr.com/photos/53179772@N06/7490122378/ -http://fashionstyleology.com/hyung-tae-kim-k-aw-2013-lcf-ba-show/ -http://blogs.fashion.arts.ac.uk/snapshot/2012/06/29/last-night-in-shoreditch/ -http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html -http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/25 - http://www.catwalking.com/ -http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/autumn-winter-2012/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/page/7# -http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ Contact. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

Designer Hera Wan completed her BA in Fashion Design and Technology Menswear at London College of Fashion in 2012 and is pursuing her MA in menswear degree in London. During her BA study, she worked at the Amsterdam based fashion house of 'Viktor & Rolf' as a menswear design assistant for three months. With a curiosity driven mind and a lifelong passion for fashion, she decided to explore the realms of aesthetics through fashion design. Hera believes that ongoing dedication and inquisitive imagination are the fundamentals of design. Eruption of colours, noise, emotions and when cultures of different kinds clash and connect is what inspires Hera to create and design. Specialized in menswear gives Hera a great opportunity to test the boundary between traditional masculinity and her eccentric perception and aesthetics of masculinity. Capturing the harmony of colour, prints, and fine details, HERA\WAN showcases the elements of distinction and unexpected blitheness throughout its designs. HERA\WAN 2012 Autumn Winter menswear collection 'Muted Adolescence' is inspired by the innocence and subtle suppression of childhood in the early 1900s. The collection featured attentively screen printed spots, muted colour digital printed argyle pattern and unconventional application of straps and ribbons. The collection is tied together and elevated by the colour combinations and childlike proportion. Contact Details: +44 (0) 754 99 56 117 HERAMATISSE@GMAIL.COM

Timeless Story Look 6, Details

FdA Fashion Design Technology (Designer Pattern Cutter)

I am a creative individual driven by the desire to excel, and a love to learn. My work reflects my ability to solve problems and address issues creatively. I am inspired by grand scales and details. By three dimentionality. As a dentist, I find that I have a unique approach to many materials and techniques. I want to always keep going forward discovering new ways in which I can incorporate these into my work. Innovation in pattern cutting is what I aspire to. Using new materials to push my limits excites me. Both these things have come to fruition while studying on the FdA Designer Pattern Cutter course. I have worked successfully in a team as well as individually. I feel confident in my ability to contribute in a working environment.

BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring

Bespoke tailoring graduate trained in both men's and women's wear. Work reflects an appreciation of quality, fit and attention to detail. The garments are all fitted and tailored to the models. The theme for the collection is the forest, as it appears depicted in folk tales and in our collective memory: mysterious, eternal, dark, romantic and inhabited by spirits. It also draws upon the epoch when the stories were recorded, the 19th century, and the contemporary context where the collection is created. Winner of the Best Tuxedo Award, a competition to reinvent the traditional tuxedo, arranged by London College of Fashion and Henry Poole & Co, March 2011. Fabric sponsored by Dormeuil. www.nicolabrindle.co.uk nicbrindle@hotmail.co.uk http://my.lcffirstmove.co.uk/graduates/6813 My final collection embodies my tactile and fun design ethos. I enjoy experimenting with colours and new techniques to recreate traditional patterns and textures. My designs often involve the unexpected such as Big-Ben embellishments and life-like flowers. The theme of my final collection was based on a Las Vegas wedding, so I combined research from both tacky and traditional aspects. I enjoy creating a story within my work, and adding extra dimensions to the garments through symbolism. I hope to continue developing as a designer with the same aesthetics – continuing to experiment and refine my style further.

AW 2011 - The world looks different from you to me.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Throughout my final year I have learnt to hone my design eye and see more of the bigger picture. How I interact and describe fashion is in an extremely emotive and feeling manner, which I express predominantly in a visual, tactile and verbal way. I have come to understand that for me it is not about the process of design development but the research and ideas behind the collection, which interest me more. ‘When I am researching, I absorb everything intuitively like a sponge. I “drink it all in” and internalise it in the world I am creating. Subconsciously, I start to make connections, patterns and links between the inspiration information thus creating a visual language. This then filters through in my sub-conscious and what is important to me gets stored up – thus becoming a cohesive concept. This internal world utilises my inner intuition and encapsulates all the feelings, sense and emotional reactions I have experienced. Through sourcing fabrics, researching, personal photography, drawings, exhibitions, looking at photographs, and listening to music, I am ever searching to gather inspiration to formulate my concept.’ For AW 11 I wanted to create garments, which have lots of delicate layers of texture on top of each other, creating something like fur or an entirely new fabric made from fabrics that I have manipulated. I achieved this by hand dying and fraying silks and wool. I like the idea of taking something and giving it a new life or changing how it is percevied. I drew inspiration from Brassai's photographs particularly of 1930's Paris at night. Through his lens he documented the seedier side of Paris; the risque nightlife of the Parisian working classes. He portrayed his subjects of the underworld - writers, artists, pimps and prostitutes without pity or disapproval instead captured how life was lived. There is a sense of timeless nostalgia and captured life in these photos and later I also found it in the work of photographers like Johnathan Leder, Drew Jarrett and Guy Bourdin. Looking at 1920's perfume bottles and the new look for classic silhouettes as well as Matador's traditional costume for the rich embroidery and textiles. The garments became the result of drinking in all this inspiration and letting it filter through my subconscious into timeless key pieces that I hope will be treasured in the wearer's wardrobes. I am now actively trying to pursue a career as a researcher and writer.
