FdA Cordwainers Footwear Design

"GEOLOGY OF SHOES" Project is taking inspiration from sediment layers and from effects of erosive processes in nature as well as from traditional shoe making techniques. Special construction method has been developed and used across the collection. Multiple layers of leather scrap pieces are added on the last and subsequently sanded down to achieve the final shape and unique colour pattern of the shoe. Colour scheme is influenced by old geological maps. Barbora's work reflects deep technical knowledge and creative competence. She likes to challenge classic shoe making techniques, yet use them with respect and celebrate its value. Playful and inquisitive thinking brought into old craftsmanship is what makes her work strong and unique.

BA (Hons) Fashion Contour

Lingerie specialist focused on brand and design. Graduate collection is inspired by Tereza’s character in the novel ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’ by Milan Kundera. The range tells the story of her moments of ‘lightness’ and ‘weight’ through use of fabric, silhouette and colour. Bone castings grow out from seam lines that alter the body’s silhouette, exploring the answer to Tereza’s question when she wonders, “if various parts of her body began to grow and shrink and [she] no longer looked like herself, would she still be Tereza?”. Enthusiastic about creating a brand identity that is relevant and offers an experience - telling a story through products that focus on detailing, particularly using hand finished techniques, to create appropriate yet unexpected designs for the target market and consumer. Previously worked on industry projects during studies, both in commercial and luxury areas, including participating in the Triumph Inspiration Award and winning first prize for a swimwear collection designed for Gilly Hicks. Lived in Switzerland working in the Brand Management department at Triumph International during placement year, working across a variety of areas including range planning, product development and marketing communications. Also has experience in lingerie retail working at luxury label Myla London, using product knowledge and doing fittings to meet customer needs and wants. BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Katharine Anne Taylor, ‘KAT’, graduated from London College of Fashion with a BA(Hons) in Fashion Jewellery. To compliment her studies, KAT gained experience in jewellery and accessory design and production in both jewellery and fashion design studios. From ethical contemporary silversmith Ute Decker to Vivienne Westwood and Holly Fulton. KAT’s efforts to explore craft and responsible design and production have been combined with studies in to human form, ergonomics and sentimentalism to create a variety of statement fashion accessories. The current collection ‘Twisted’ explores luxurious, bespoke accessories. “Luxury is comfort. To me, comfort comes from quality materials, fit and an emotional connection with an object, something that is catered for in bespoke design.” ‘Craftech’; the development of craft with digital processes, is used to mimic hand forged hot metal work forms into different materials. Using the traditional blacksmithing technique of twisting, KAT develops forms on 3D software such as Rhino to create files for CNC machining. Using soft, warm English Walnut wood creates striking frames that are light and comfortable. The pieces celebrate and accentuate fluid curves and twisting forms. The combination of Walnut and Brass detailing reflects KAT’s appreciation of traditional products, but the use of digital processes transform the materials into eye catching contemporary pieces. “Living in London fuels my creativity, I love the vibrance and diversity of the City, but I often find time to enjoy the outdoors. My designs are a reflection of life between the natural and the manmade and the way I see the world around me.” Continuing the development of her eyewear for the designer market, KAT is concentrating on materials and local manufacturing research to inform her support of British Fashion production. As well as her own projects and commissions, KAT is seeking collaborative projects within the jewellery, accessories and eyewear industries. info@katharineannetaylor.com http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/katharine-anne-taylor/42/205/307/ http://my.lcffirstmove.co.uk/graduates/7819 PRESS http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/spring-summer-2014/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/full-length-photos/gallery/1004104 http://www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/london-college-of-fashion-class-of-2013-catwalk-show/ CREDITS LCF Press Runway Collaboration 2013 Eyewear by Katharine Anne Taylor Menswear tailoring by Andreas Kristoffer Feet-Martinsen Bags & Belts by Stevan Saville Photography by James Rees Creative Direction, Rob Phillips Beauty, Pace Chen Model, Luke Walker at AMCK Models PROJECTS Fashion Jewellery design for Save the Children Charity, 'Born to Shine' Campaign http://www.ecouterre.com/london-fashion-students-turn-silly-bandz-into-bespoke-jewelry-for-save-the-children/ http://www.handbag.com/fashion/news/a424412/london-college-of-fashion-teams-up-with-save-the-children.html http://housepr.com/london-college-of-fashion-creates-bespoke-‘born-to-shine’-jewellery-with-save-the-children/ BLOGS http://blogs.arts.ac.uk/fashion/2012/04/12/jewellery-designer-featured-in-fashion-film/

British born designer specialising in ready to wear Womenswear [Graduate Collection] The synthesis between reality and the mind fuelled initial concepts, delving into a realm of disordered anarchy subjected by mental affliction and internal condition. The concept of illusion and perspective further enhanced development employing the use of line and volume, generating a signature narrative with an abstract play on tailoring. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

Copyright © 2013 Victoria Rowley An energetic and open-minded print designer who obsesses over experimental applications and illustrative drawing. With a trademark delicate hand, exotic subjects are florid and evocative. 8=========D My recent work, in a rather farcical and juvenile manner, set out to explore themes of fleshy surfaces and sexuality. The influence of imagery from the photography of Pierre et Gilles, and film such as Henri-Georges Clouzot’s L’Enfer, and that of the German Expressionist genre, led me to respond to the graphic compositions and carnal imagery using harsh contrasts of colour; over-saturated and suffused. Abstract interpretations with screen printing using devore, discharge and procion techniques onto silk velvet and organzas, intended to replicate the real sensuality and lustre of the skin. Using alternative methods in response to my findings, enlarged and distorted images of glitter and wax as an initial layer to the composition, was adopted in keeping to the uncanny as a regular motif. Interacting more exaggerated motifs of pearlescent lemon and lavender colours, with dark harmonious earth shades to make the smooth textures advance, and to radiate in a hypnotic quality. Such frivolity having integrated into print development, seeming to convey a very stylistic aesthetic, I wanted further exploration to circulate around a discussion on taste. It was all the more enticing to use figurative, hand-rendered applications to fully utilize the provoking combinations of imagery I was sourcing. As a reaction against notions of good taste, bad taste is fully explored through archetypical motifs of the grotesque and the beautiful, with the writings of Umberto Eco being of key influence. The outraged Eco’s humorously dry take on objects of American ‘Hyper-real’, (almost perfectly fake ornamental replicas of icons in European arts/culture), inspired me to juxtapose the crude imagery with more traditional academic art. Florid pencil drawings of botanics and genitalia with leafy foliage have evolved into monstrous print placements. Inspired by the Bauhaus spirit, they started their final year journey with the Bauhaus motto in mind. ‘No longer can anything exist in isolation. We perceive every form as the embodiment of an idea, every piece of work as a manifestation of our innermost selves. Only work which is the product of inner compulsion can have spiritual meaning.‘ ~ Walter Gropius After the fashion of Bauhauslers being true to themselves while researching and designing, Adrien and Antonia then delved into their own unique cultural background and life experience in searching for things that would best define themselves and their aesthetic. ‘Two crazy minds. One raging collection.’ The two first met during the second year collaboration project. The invaluable experience furthering their belief in team work in that they could focus on things that inspire them the most. So they decided to have some more fun together for their final year project. As a menswear student, Adrien has always been more interested in creating shapes and developing his idea on stand and patterns rather than the traditional drawing-then-making process. The shapes and silhouettes for the final year project were developed by playing around the Bauhaus geometric aesthetic and reinventing the traditional Chinese patterns. Being playful and unconventional are the only rules, but feel free to break. For the printing design side, Antonia combined the intensity of Bauhaus painting style and the excitement of light and music from her clubbing adventure to come up with strong and fanatical printing design. Being a proud prints student who believes in traditional handcraft and screen printing process, Antonia completed all the printing with her own bare hands. By overlapping her print design with painstakingly accuracy and with only cyan, yellow, magenta, she achieves something truly extraordinary. With both of them focusing on what excites and inspires them most and paying attention to each other’s progress, they’ve tried their best to realise their vision and ambition. This unique and raving mad menswear collection is the sum of their final year collaboration journey. BA (Hons) Fashion Contour

London based Chinese lingerie&Fashion Designer who comes from a multilayered cultural background. Have always been a creative thinker with ability to see the 'whole picture' and be able to merge all art and contemporary influences into individual and cross-culturally designs. Accomplished at creative design and pattern cutting skills who believes in lingerie is all about self-expression which can combine both functional and sexuality and makes the best of woman’s looks, whilst controlling the body. My work is all about communicative power of contour with strong philosophy, to consider the flow around the body to demonstrate 'innovation' with sculptural paneling and simplified lines. My work is also inspired by oriental mood (both traditional culture and strong color palette) which combined extreme femininity and glamour with power to accentuate the beauty of the female body. The inspiration of my collection comes from an ancient style of Chinese calligraphy called Seal Characters so that my designs always go with abstracted lines mix with the geometric, modern structure silhouette and minimal clean-cut look to express the unique beauty of both Oriental and Western women, to make them liberated, sophisticated and powerful.
